  • Bruno Soares

    Bruno has a PhD in Physics and extensive scientific, technological and business experience in the fields of biochemical sensing, pathogen detection and DNA sequencing. Previously he was the Chief Scientific Officer of Base4, a UK based genomics start-up he helped develop from its initial stage to a team of more than twenty people. He has been involved in securing more than $10 million in venture capital and grant funding.

    • Nuno Arantes-Oliveira

      Nuno has a PhD in Genetics, with research work performed at UCSF under Cynthia Kenyon and a number of high-impact publications. He has started several companies in the US and Europe, including Alfama Inc., the first modern drug discovery company originating from Portugal, and has raised over $20 million in venture capital and competitive grant funding. Nuno has won several international honours and awards, and is the former President of P-BIO, Portugal’s Biotechnology Industry Organisation.


      • Ana Teixeira

        PhD in Human Genetics from the University College London (UK), focusing on the genetic susceptibility to gastric diseases.

        Ana worked in genetics for over 15 years with extensive lab experience, including at Cancer Research UK in London on colorectal cancer research and at the University of Oxford (UK) on the characterisation of transcription factors binding sites using High-Throughput technologies. More recently, Ana worked at the Oxford Genomics Centre as a project manager acting as an adviser on sequencing and library preparation technologies and managing sequencing projects.

          Broad knowledge and expertise in Human genetics, with solid laboratory experience in genetic/genomic technologies, strong skills in bioinformatics and genetic analysis of large population samples, and extensive in the management of population databases and biological repositories.

          • Inês Sousa

            PhD in Clinical Medicine from the University of Oxford (UK), focusing on the Molecular Genetics of Autism.

            Inês worked for the last 11 years in the Human Genetics and Genomics fields, having most recently worked on a project to study Genetics and Genomics of Primary Spontaneous Pneumothorax and also focusing on the mitochondrial genome of several paediatrics and pulmonary disorders. During this time, Inês has also been awarded the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science (2012) and Prémio Robalo Cordeiro (2013).
